Reasons to Visit Peggy's Cove: Exploring the Jewel of Nova Scotia

As a Nova Scotia native and food blogger, I've had the pleasure of experiencing the beauty and deliciousness this province has to offer. One spot that always stands out to me is Peggy's Cove, a charming fishing village located just a short drive from Halifax. Here are just a few reasons why you should add Peggy's Cove to your Nova Scotia itinerary, and why a stop at Crab Apple Cookery & Cafe is a must.

The scenery:

Peggy's Cove is known for its stunning rocky shoreline, lighthouse, and quaint fishing village. It's the perfect spot to snap some photos, take in the salty air, and enjoy the stunning views.

The history:

Peggy's Cove has a rich history as a fishing village, and the Peggy's Cove Preservation Society has done an incredible job of preserving that history. Take a stroll around the village to learn about the community's past, or visit the William E. deGarthe Memorial Monument to see a stunning tribute to the fishermen and their families.

The seafood:

It's no surprise that Peggy's Cove has some of the freshest seafood around. Whether you're in the mood for fish and chips, a lobster roll, or some chowder, there are plenty of spots in the village to indulge in some delicious seafood.

The baked goods:

And of course, no trip to Peggy's Cove is complete without a stop at Crab Apple Cookery & Cafe. This licensed cafe serves up homemade baked goods, coffee, and light breakfast and lunch fare. Their crab apple scones are a must-try, and their quiches are always made with fresh, local ingredients. Plus, their welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff will make you feel right at home.

Whether you're a local looking for a day trip or a tourist exploring Nova Scotia, Peggy's Cove is a must-visit destination. And if you find yourself in the village, be sure to stop by Crab Apple Cookery & Cafe for a taste of their delicious homemade treats.
